쉽다 conjugation

The polite forms end in 요 and suit most conversations; the formal form is for announcements, presentations and first meetings. The same form works for I, you, she or they.

How 쉽다 conjugates

1. Find the stem. Take 다 off 쉽다 and you are left with 쉽.
2. Apply the ㅂ irregular pattern. The ㅂ becomes 우 before a vowel. That gives 쉬워요.
3. Build the rest on it. The past tense adds ㅆ to the same base, giving 쉬웠어요, and the table above has the future and the formal form.

Using 쉽다

A ㅂ-irregular adjective, so 쉽다 becomes 쉬워요. As Koreans like to say, 한글은 쉬워요: Hangeul is easy.

• 이 문제는 쉬워요.

  This problem is easy.

• 한글은 배우기 쉬워요.

  Hangul is easy to learn.
