How 적다 conjugates
- Find the stem. Take 다 off 적다 and you are left with 적.
- Check the last vowel. It is ㅓ, and any vowel other than ㅏ or ㅗ takes 어요.
- Join them. 적 + 어요 gives 적어요.
- Build the rest on it. The past tense adds ㅆ to the same base, giving 적었어요, and the table above has the future and the formal form.
Using 적다
Opposite of 많다. Watch out: 작다 is small in size, 적다 is small in amount.
돈이 적어요.
There is little money.
손님이 적어요.
There are few customers.
