| Polite present | 봐요 | |
| Polite past | 봤어요 | |

The polite forms end in 요 and suit most conversations; the formal form is for announcements, presentations and first meetings. The same form works for I, you, she or they.
How 보다 conjugates
- Find the stem. Take 다 off 보다 and you are left with 보.
- Check the last vowel. It is ㅗ, and a stem ending in ㅏ or ㅗ takes 아요.
- Join them. The vowels merge as they meet: 보 + 아요 gives 봐요.
- Build the rest on it. The past tense adds ㅆ to the same base, giving 봤어요, and the table above has the future and the formal form.
Using 보다
Conjugates to 봐요. It also covers taking tests (시험을 보다) and seeing people (내일 봐요, see you tomorrow).
영화를 봐요.

내일 봐요!
