How 하다 conjugates
- Find the stem. Take 다 off 하다 and you are left with 하.
- Apply the 하다 pattern. 하 becomes 해 before an ending. That gives 해요.
- Build the rest on it. The past tense adds ㅆ to the same base, giving 했어요, and the table above has the future and the formal form.
Using 하다
The most important verb in Korean, since countless nouns become verbs just by adding 하다. It conjugates irregularly: 하다 becomes 해요.
뭐 해요?
What are you doing?
숙제를 해요.
I do my homework.
