How 예쁘다 conjugates
- Find the stem. Take 다 off 예쁘다 and you are left with 예쁘.
- Apply the ㅡ stem pattern. The ㅡ drops and 아 or 어 takes its place. That gives 예뻐요.
- Build the rest on it. The past tense adds ㅆ to the same base, giving 예뻤어요, and the table above has the future and the formal form.
Using 예쁘다
ㅡ-irregular: 예쁘다 → 예뻐요. The ㅃ placement trips up many learners.
꽃이 예뻐요.
The flowers are pretty.
옷이 정말 예뻐요.
The clothes are really pretty.
