How 타다 conjugates
- Find the stem. Take 다 off 타다 and you are left with 타.
- Check the last vowel. It is ㅏ, and a stem ending in ㅏ or ㅗ takes 아요.
- Join them. The vowels merge as they meet: 타 + 아요 gives 타요.
- Build the rest on it. The past tense adds ㅆ to the same base, giving 탔어요, and the table above has the future and the formal form.
Using 타다
Used for all transport: buses, trains, bikes, even elevators. Takes 을/를: 버스를 타요.
지하철을 타요.
I take the subway.
자전거를 탈 수 있어요?
Can you ride a bike?
